| Rio Las Vegas Hotel |
We relax like beached whales in the pool. OK, so we're in our 60's and we don't have the bodies of 16-year-olds anymore. Does that mean we should cover up and hide? Heck no. In fact, most of the bodies out by the pool look very much like ours.
Here's Kathi under the Rio water fall. There are several pools available, but we liked the one with the waterfall best.
ROOMS
The Rio rooms are suites and are super nice and comfortable. If you're taking this getaway to spend a lot of time in your nicely air conditioned room to watch movies, read a book or just rest, spend as much as you can on a quality room.
TIP: Ask for a room high enough with a view and preferably not at the back of the hotel where all the deliveries come in.
TIP: If budgeting, try to travel during the weekdays rather than weekends
as the rates will be less expensive. Also, check out their specials for another money-saving tip.
TIP: Check out their luxurious Rio Spa and Salon package for lots of well deserved pampering. We've learned over the years how important it is to take time to relax, this being said from a Type A personality. Your health will thank you.
TIP: All Las Vegas hotels charge you a resort fee. Because we never asked, it was only on our last trip to the Rio that we found out their resort fee included free access to the spa jacuzzi, showers which included a razor, shampoo and other bath needs, steam spa and all kinds of complimentary beauty items. So by all means, ask and take advantage of it. After all, you paid for it.
DINING
We can't emphasize enough how much we enjoy eating a great meal and to encourage you to budget for eating well on your vacation. Well, we own a restaurant so as you can imagine we're foodies. For us, we forget about eating at places we could eat in at home. No McDonalds, no chain restaurants that we can find at home. The Rio has 14 different restaurants on property but we have our two favorites.
We and The Seafood Buffet go WAY back. All you can eat small lobsters, crab legs, oyster on the half shell, and mounds of seafood that will have your eyes bulging by the end of the night.
TIP: Check out their fresh ice-cream section. Superb!
The Carnival World Buffet is huge and has really tasty food from around the world; thus the name. There are so many options that you can never eat one of each - you'd explode!

SHOWS
If you're not drinking, you'll have extra money to spend on a class-act show. For those who are intellectually stimulated, Penn & Teller are witty, sophisticated intellectuals and a quick to feed the brain.
SHOPPING
We like unusual things (thus a marriage made in heaven) and when we go shopping we're not real quick to buy the everyday I LOVE LAS VEGAS refrigerator magnet. No, not even as a thank you gift for the lady who watches our cats. We popped by the Masquerade Store and really liked this carnival mask. It now sits proudly on our bookcase reminding us of the great vacation we had at the Rio. You won't run out of souvenir or gift ideas at the following Rio stores on site:

Remind me to get you guys an "I Love Prescott" refrigerator magnet......
